The Caledonian road is a very lively street packed full of shops, restaurants and public facilities. However, some pocket streets adjacent to the Caledonian road for example, Freeling, Tillock, Lyon and Cresent Street are under-utilized. Freeling Steet is blocked off from automobile traffic with several bollards. This is perhaps one of the first steps of an ongoing project called Cultivating Cally where the street will be transformed into a permanent public pocket park; right now Freeling Street is empty, the proposal was approved by the council and received funding allocation but when will the proposal be realized, we do not know.

Following the idea of using green space to help connect the communities around the Cally and provide people-friendly zones for promoting health and well-being, we should start thinking about ways to immediately bring these ideas to realization, especially during the current covid-19 crisis. My following proposal should thus serve as a temporary solution and more so as transition towards better equipped bigger projects like the Cultivating Cally.

I present to you: the Cally Gardening Bollard Kit.
